Building on the Call of Duty 4 engine, Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the ruthless and gritty chaos of WWII combat like never before, and challenges them to band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles of WWII that led to the demise of the Axis powers on the European and South Pacific fronts.

The title re-defines WWII games by offering an uncensored experience with unique enemies and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning cover tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through all new cooperative gameplay.
- Call of Duty 4 Technology – Built using the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War utilizes a bedrock of technology that delivers jaw-dropping visuals, while empowering players to employ elements like fire to affect the dynamics of the battlefield. Players that attempt to harness the power of new weapons, like the flamethrower, will find themselves capable of burning away environmental elements that give cover to a camouflaged enemy, leaving a charred battlefield – and their foes – in their wake.
- Coordinated Assault and Support – For the first time in the franchise, Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-op, bringing fresh meaning to the “No One Fights Alone” mantra. Call of Duty: World at War co-op features up to four-players online, or two-player local split-screen, allowing gamers to experience harrowing single-player missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution. The title also incorporates traditional multiplayer components such as challenges, rankings and online stats into the co-op campaign for deeper re-playability and advanced gameplay.
- New Theaters of Operation – Players fight as U.S. Marines and Russian soldiers facing enemies – some new to the Call of Duty franchise – that employ lethal new tactics and know no fear, no mercy, nor the rules of war. Epic conflicts are fought on multiple fronts, playing through the climactic battles of WWII in the grittiest, most chaotic and cinematically intense experience to date.
- Innovative Multiplayer – Multiplayer builds from the success of Call of Duty delivering a persistent online experience for more squad based interaction. New development with party systems allows an intimacy with squad based combat never before seen in Call of Duty. Combined infantry and vehicle missions add a new dimension to the online warfare and offers more PERK abilities.
- Cinematic Quality Graphics and Sound – Treyarch’s award-winning sound department returns with effects that add to the already immersive cinematic intensity of the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game engine.

I've had the game since it came out and it truly is a great game. If you want a challenge the veteran mode campaign is just nuts but still equally exciting on easy. The multiplayer is fantastic, with many maps, modes, weapons you just can't get enough of it. Then there's NAZI ZOMBIES, it is is brilliant! Endless hordes of undead hunting you and your team, it's the best survival mode out there.
Also the DLC available is well worth it, the all-3-map-packs bundle is now only $30, which is great value; 9 multiplayer maps and 3 zombie maps (You simply must play those 3 zombie maps!!).
Even though there is now COD: MW2 this game is a must have and you should definitely not look past it. All games have their minor problems but when you look at this game as a whole these problems are insignificant.
One of, if not the best, WW2 and FPS games out there + considering the current low price you simply can't turn it down.
10/10

call of Duty 5
This game is a WWII based First Person Shooter. Some features of this game is a unique single player, split screen & online muiltplayer Experiences. This Game I would rate
-8/10 for Graphics
-9.5/10 for Sound quality
-10/10 for gameplay value
-27.5/30 (91.67%) overall
This Game features a excellent single player experience.Similar to Battlefield Bad Company, the campaign is a open ended single player campaign. There is a good support from your AI units. During the campaign you also get the opportunity to use some exciting weapons, which i have never used before.
Which includes a M1 Garande with a grenade launcher to Flamethrower's.
The army vehicles use is very limited with only tanks available to you. But there is a chance to use a Flame Thrower equipped tank. During the campaign you can collect Death Cards to use during the online campaign with your friends, or even the new unique game mode Nazi Zombies.
Multiplayer
This game features a gameplay experience fairly similar to that of Call Of Duty 4. The perk and Ranking system closely resembles that of COD . There are six different mulitplayer modes, which included Team Death match and Capture the Flag. Also if you have a kill streak, you can use special ability's such as:
Recon Plane-To show enemies on the map.
Artillery- Direct Artillery to take down difficult bunkers
and Even the dogs, which is highly effective at gaining you a lot of kills.
The good thing about this game, is that some of the online mulitplayer features are available as split screen. You have the ability to play through the campaign on online or split screen. And when you finish the Campaign a brand new 'bonus mode' is available for play. This game mode was the final push to have Battlefield Bad Company as my favorite game, changed. This game mode is known as Nazi Zombies.
Nazi Zombies
This game mode is a highly addictive zombie killing experience. On the free map which come with the game, you start off in a bunker, and you have to kill zombies to survive. Every time you kill/injure a zombie you gain points and with points you can unlock extra areas, and buy guns. One of my favorite features is the random box. Its were you pay points to gain weapons, the only reason you would do this is to gain weapons you can't get "off the wall." Which includes, heavy machine guns, motolave cocktail, flame throwers and even a 'ray gun'. Which I think is a great addition.
This game mode can be played in single player, split screen (2 player only) and online multiplayer. Which, means maximum gameplay experience!
